After a very busy weekend we are back into the school routine with Sophie starting back at school today in a new class with a new teacher! Luckily all of her friends have moved up this year and she seemed very happy to back there...telling me "I could leave now" before the bell rang!
We certainly had a busy weekend starting with the local A & P Show where both monsters did very well! Sophie picked up a first prize for her sandsaucer and also her colouring competition and Cooper scooped second prize for his sandsaucer! The flowers came from our school communal garden, the beach & my own garden.
I also finished my holiday project of making Sophie her winter jersey which she is very happy with. The pattern is a basic guernsey but I mixed it up adding some stripes and it also has bright yellow smiley face buttons at the back of the neck.
I also had my last day at my part time job today. I'm planning on spending alot more time on my crafts this year, and hopefully keeping a more regular blog too!
I am a stay at home mum with 2 lovely little monsters. In my spare time (when I get it!) I like to do crafts. I live in lovely Hokitika, NZ.

Something Different
This week I have finished off a few little projects I started over the holidays that are a little bit different to my usual hand crafts.
I have a pile of lovely material so I decided I had better start using some of it up and I came up with the idea of making some little pillows.
The yoyo pillows are a fun and simple way of using up fabric and if there is enough interest I will pop a tutorial up for them.
The "what a hoot pillow" was something that grew from an old pair of woolen pants & some felt. The owl came next and he just needed a branch to perch on.
All in all it has been lots of fun and I may play around with a few more sewing projects in between my knitting!
These are all now in my Felt store :)

New Friends
I hope you have all had an excellent holiday break!
We managed a trip away to Otago to catch up with lots of family and see some absolutely stunning scenery.
All of this has inspired me to make some new little friends for my Pukeko & Kiwi finger puppets. I also now have a Tui & Hoiho finger puppets to add to the family.
Sophie was especially taken with the Tui fingerpuppet as we saw an abundance of these while on holiday.
These are all now available in my Felt and Etsy Stores.

Not just for little feet!
I recieved this email from a very happy customer this week and I have to say it brought tears to my eyes! Nice to see romance is still alive!
"Writing to say how happy I was with the gumboots and tell you of what they were used for - something quite different to the intended purpose I'm sure! Seems you ladies like a romantic story!
My partner lives in the city while I'm in the country, as I am farming. She is shifting to the farm later in the year and refers to the shift as operation gumboot. So the redbands were to somewhat symbolise her shift. Recently we went for a walk on the beach where she lives......... In my pocket were the 2 boots, after about 40 mins of walking we found ourselves at a nice quiet spot, out came one gumboot and then the other. I 'dropped' the second gumboot, so here I was on one knee in front of my partner holding the second gumboot up to her (which had an engagement ring in it)! She said yes!
So yes the gumboots were a big part of it all!"
